About Paula Christie
Paula Christie showed promise as an artist from her earliest years and was accepted to the arts program at the University of Wisconsin. She continued her training and exploration of painting and drawing while living in Wyoming, California, and eventually in Australia, and Greece where she studied and worked as an Artist. Paula studied egg tempera in Italy with internationally known painter, Fred Wessel.
Paula also has an appreciation for Tuscan pottery and ceramics. During her travels, Paula found that local forms of artistic expression in various foreign countries were influential on her personal style. Her paintings are recognizable for intense color and rich texture.
Paula now resides in Michigan and maintains a home studio there and offers on-going acrylic painting classes and workshops. Paula also holds a Masters in International Marketing and offers occasional market planning and customer analysis workshops for artists.
"I use traditional methods of achieving realism in my painting with attention to light, color, composition and perspective. Brilliant color, deep texture and bold brush strokes combine to create beautiful landscapes, serene marshes, wild storms, and vivid still life compositions. I strive to take the viewer with me to experience the wind and sounds of a storm at sea, or the stillness and peace of a sunny marsh at dawn."
